REVIEW: Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Stick

Ola! It’s been raining the past few weeks and it feels so good seeing the sun shine again at last! Although another typhoon is coming it’s way to our country, again. :( Anyways, I’m back with another review. This time it’s a face product from a popular drug store brand.

I think it’s more than a month since I bought this product but I was so busy for the last months to do a review.  Every time I go to do some groceries, this product never fails me to stop and look. HAHA! Though I am not really a fan of BB creams and stuffs, this product is some kinda unique cause it’s a BB cream on a a stick. Most of the BB creams I know comes in a powder/pressed or liquid forms. But not this one. The day I bought this was a super fast buying impulse! Promise! I asked for shades but the sales lady told me that it only caters 1 shade. So I was contemplating whether to get it or not. That time there were no testers, but since I love to try this out I got myself one. HAHA!! Btw, I got the FRESH shade which is way too light on my skin. I consulted google if it is really a one shade product, but to my dismay it has 2! The other one is RADIANCE!  Aaaaaagrh!! That would be perfect for my skin tone, I guess.

Hmmm.. enough with the rants and kwentos! Let me share with you what the product claims to be:
(Just copied at the product’s packaging)
Clear Smooth BB Stick is a multi-benefit product that combines the benefits of skin care, make-up, and sun block in a stick. It contains salicylic acid that helps clear away pores and imperfections, and mineral clay that helps control shine all day.

Dermatologically tested.
Recommended for oily or combination skin.
Suitable for sensitive and acne-prone skin.

8-IN-1 BENEFITS:
Controls shine - Mineral clay formula helps keep skin shine-free all day
Lasts all day - Powder finish resists sweat and sebum for up to 12 hours
Clears - Reduces the appearance of dark spots, redness, fine lines, and wrinkles
Refines - Reduces the appearance of pores
Conceals - Instantly hides flaws and imperfections
Evens - Corrects uneven skin tone
Smoothens - Makes skin feel smooth, soft, and supple
Protects - SPF 21/PA+++ protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays

Based on my own experience:
 Controls shine:
shine-free all day is not what I’ve experienced.  After 4 hours, I noticed oil building up on my T-zone area. I have oily-combination skin if you may ask. Maybe the weather plays a huge part because it’s really hot that time.
Lasts all day:
I agree that it’s powder finish but it does not resist sweat for upto 12 hours.
Clears:
Yes it clears dark spots but super light ones I guess.
Refines:
It does reduces the appearance of pores. But it does not refines those big pores on my nose especially if I have not exfoliated my nose area well. :p
Conceals:
I don’t think this this product has the concealing affect on my part. My dark circle under my eyes are not concealed by simply applying this product. I need to put a concealer to this area.
Evens:
I agree that it really evens out the skin tone. No doubt about it!:)
Smoothens:
Yes! I feel my skin is smooth.
Protects:
SPF 21/PA+++ protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays NO DOUBT!:D

PACKAGING:
The packaging is great! This reminds me of my other Maybelline Blush Bronzer. Almost the same!:) It’s a tube where in you can twist. Just like a lipstick!
COVERAGE:
Light to medium coverage.
SCENT:
Aaaargh! Sorry but for me I don’t like the smell. Whenever I apply this I feel like putting some cream plastic on face! It really smells like plastic! Promise!
TEXTURE:
Creamy

TIPS:
-  - Moisturize first before application. A little moisturizer will do. I think this applies whenever you put your foundations or any make up on your face too.
-  - Wash hands before applying using your fingertips. :p
-  - To get a desirable look, 2 layers can be applied. I don’t think 3 layers of this is advisable. Be sure to blend it really well to avoid cakey results.
-  - LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT: Top it with a face powder or any powder foundation to get a flawless look result. I don’t think wearing it alone is enough. Wearing it alone will give you a shiny and some kinda oily look. Especially to oily-combination skin like me. In my case, I use the BB powder of 4U2. (Review to follow)

RATINGS:
